Following the success of our festive installations in Somerset, we were asked to provide additional teams on several new Christmas schemes in Devon, Cornwall and Herefordshire. We have continued to work closely with our friends at The Festive Lighting Company in Wellington, Somerset – one of the UK’s leading suppliers of festive lighting schemes for shopping centres, towns and cities.
We were particularly proud to install a new scheme at the prestigious Old Market Shopping Centre in Hereford. Owned by British Land (one of the UK’s largest and most influential retail landowners), Old Market is a stylish outdoor complex of national and international retailers, casual dining outlets and a cinema.
The scheme was designed to make this open air shopping centre feel more intimate, with extensive use of festoon lighting to create an artificial ceiling to the shopping and restaurant areas. The zig-zag festoon incorporated a selection of LED warm and cool white knitted globe lights, falling snow tubes and carnival lamps. At either end of the mall 3 x 1.5m asteroids created a real wow factor and the centre mall featured a 2.5m illuminated reindeer, 2 large Christmas trees, 8 small Christmas trees that were individually snow blasted and 2 x 10m light curtains. The mall also had several deciduous tress that were dressed with LED light strings.
Working in a new centre is always challenging, but the entire staff at Old Market, from management through to the cleaning and security teams made this install a real pleasure. Particular thanks must go to our friends in Frankie & Benny’s who kept us supplied with hot coffee during the cold, wet night shifts.
We have received nothing but positive feedback from the management team who clearly know a good contractor when they see one! The 2019 festive season was one of the wettest we can remember. Water and electricity do not play well together but we are proud to say that we didn’t have one call-out to Old Market. Their management team even confirmed that not a single LED light failed – a real testament to the quality of our installation.
